Move / 003.

Move / 003 was an art exhibition that reinterpreted the fabric of a night out through visual art and recorded conversations. Curated in collaboration

with dj/artist SHERELLE and their platform Beautiful, the exhibition journeyed through different moments audiences might experience on a night out: from arriving at a club and feeling a moment of pride, to ending up by the dj.

A visual arts exhibition accompanied by a listening experience, move/003 encouraged audiences to sit with art longer than one might normally, and listen more deeply than our ever-busy lives allow. Inspired by listening bars that emerged in 1950s Tokyo, the exhibition was an opportunity to stop, pause, listen and connect in the heart of London.

Contributors included photographer Imaani Iris documenting Colour Factory, Ugandan artist-activist DeLovie Kwagala capturing ballroom culture in South Africa, Chicago glitch artist Professor Wrecks and documentarian Henry J Kamara, among others. Audio recordings featured members of SHERELLE’s label Beautiful, including Nia Archives, Loraine James, TAAHLIAH, and Roska — each speaking to a theme related to rave culture. A selection of these recordings are available to explore on this page.

At the centre of the space, a bespoke soundscape by fynn studio played through Queer Rave Soundsystem — the first queer-led system to receive Arts Council UK funding. Whilst a commissioned Nia Archives video piece, showcasing never-seen-before footage from their video ‘Baiana’, was displayed in the final video room.

Move / 003 included a workshop with dj HAAi, offering insight into their creative process, exclusively for Beautiful members. At its core, move/003 was a celebration of community, connection, and sonic storytelling.

The exhibition was supported by Spotify and Dazed Magazine, with sponsorship from headphone company AIAIAI. Long-form versions of the recording are available on the Spotify platform.
